Transitional Care for Ugandan Brain Injury Patients

Project Team

Traumatic brain injuries are a leading cause of hospital admission in Uganda. Physiotherapy is often central to recovery from such injuries, but transition planning is necessary to ensure that patients continue to receive care in an outpatient setting.

This study protocol aims to examine the current state of outpatient rehabilitation service availability and utilization for patients leaving the hospital after a traumatic brain injury. This study will be the first to describe current practice and will allow development of a care transition model for inclusion of rehabilitation services in acute hospital discharge practice.
