Tara Bansal Wins #PolicyInAction Contest
Tara Bansal ’17 is the grand prize winner of the Sanford School of Public Policy’s #PolicyInAction contest for her work in Bangalore, India, this summer. She was in there as part of the Bass Connections project team Studying the “Real” Slums of Bangalore, which is under the Education & Human Development theme.
She traveled to slums and conducted interviews and surveys to identify formal and informal leaders in these regions. She and her team hope to analyze the relationship between local and government leadership in order to study how goods and services are being distributed. “In many of these communities, my presence was, at best, a spectacle and at worst, highly suspicious,” she said of her research experience in Bangalore.
