Duke Awards Distinguished Professorships, Inducts New Bass Society Members
Duke University has awarded distinguished professorships to 21 members of its faculty. Another four were inducted into the Bass Society of Fellows for Excellence in Teaching and Research.
The professors were recognized at a May 4 dinner at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. Among the recipients were two Bass Connections team leaders:

Charles A. Gersbach became the Rooney Family Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering on January 1. He leads the Bass Connections project International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM).

Erik Wibbels, Robert O. Keohane Professor of Political Science, is now a member of the Bass Society of Fellows for Excellence in Teaching and Research. He leads the Bass Connections project Studying the Real ‘Slums’ in Bangalore.
