Caroline Bruzelius Honored with Leadership Award
The Trinity College Dean’s Leadership Award recognizes a group in Arts & Sciences that has demonstrated leadership through a project involving teaching, research or service. This year’s award went to Caroline Bruzelius, professor of art history and visual studies, for the Wired! Lab.
Bruzelius is a Bass Connections faculty team leader of two multiyear projects: The Lives of Things and Visualizing Venice.
The Wired! Lab draws on digital technology, art history, visual studies and other disciplines to advance the study of art, architectural and urban history. One example is the Visualizing Venice project, involving faculty and staff from Duke and counterparts at two Italian universities. Participants are virtually recreating five sections of Venice, illustrating how the city and urban life there has changed over an 800-year period.
