It was really fulfilling to see the research process through from start to finish, and I’m grateful to Duke for allowing students to participate in such an innovative and intellectually stimulating program.

My team decided to focus on the aerospace and defense industries in North Carolina, and we used a variety of methods to collaboratively research and analyze these spaces within both the state and local economies. Due to the unique nature of the Bass Connections structure, my team formed strong relationships with one another as well as with our instructors—brilliant and respected subject matter experts—while also receiving academic credit for the time invested in the project.
At the end of the year, my team and I presented deliverables we created using the global value chain framework to North Carolina stakeholders and interested Duke community members. It was really fulfilling to see the research process through from start to finish, and I’m grateful to Duke for allowing students to participate in such an innovative and intellectually stimulating program.
Now as an alumnae I’m able to draw on my research, teamwork and presentation experiences from the project in both my professional and personal pursuits.
