Video: Making Data Matter
Making Data Matter is a course and project team within our Information, Society, and Culture theme that takes data, stories and maps from the period of urban renewal in Asheville, North Carolina, specially focusing on the historically African-American community, Southside. Using primary sources and re-contextualizing early uses of "big data" students created collaborative interfaces, informed ethical urban planning, developed tools and methods for social engagement and remapped concepts of resistance in a community that was relocated.
