Reflections on our week in Dhaka

The Bass Connections Global Health team, Chlorhexidine for Umbilical Cord Care, traveled to Dhaka, Bangladesh for a week this March. Their goal for the duration of their stay was to learn about the plans for introducing chlorhexidine (CGX) application to new born umbilical cord stumps, as well as identify some ways to reduce or eliminate bottle necks to reduce newborn mortality rates in Bangladesh. The team worked to gain a deeper understanding of the political, cultural and societal barriers to implementing a CHX delivery system through the health infrastructure by conducting interviews, visiting important cultural sites, and meeting with local NGOs. During this week, different team leaders and members reflected on their work through sharing photos and blog posts. To read more about their work, check out their website here
