My Bass Connections Pathway

Jonathon Free participated in the Bass Connections project team Regulatory Disaster Scene Investigation

“The most rewarding aspect for me was the interaction with the other members of the project team—professors, graduate students and undergraduate alike. During the project, we divided our research into three subgroups, and I was lucky enough to work with the one undergraduate student on the team. While we have opportunities as graduate students to teach introductory-level classes, this experience gave me the chance to mentor an advanced undergraduate doing sophisticated research for the first time. My advice for students is to find a project that appeals to you and contact the lead organizers to learn what you can contribute. Bass Connections offers an uncommon and very valuable experience.”
