Duke Researchers Developing App to Screen for Autism
Loading...
The Bass Connections Information, Child Mental Health and Society team, led by Professor Guillermo Sapiro, is working hard to develop an app that will allow psychiatrists to screen individuals for Autism Spectrum Disorder with the camera of an iPad. The app will show a series of videos meant to envoke emotional responses and then will record and process subjects’ facial movements as a response to the videos.
The team, part of the Information, Society & Culture and Education & Human Development Bass Connections themes, wants to make the app “easily accessible to schools and parents” so that individuals can seek further observation faster.
