Displacement Limbo

Syrians fleeing the war are stuck in limbo, incapable of moving forward and unable to go back. So too are the aid organizations trying to help them, writes Josephine Ramseyer.

Ramseyer is a student on the Bass Connections project team Displacement, Resettlement and Global Mental Health working in Jordan this summer.

“There are three million externally displaced Syrians, three million more still residing within Syria and limited resources that are restricted even more by the split in aid initiatives to service them. Is it wrong to hold out hope for an end to the war? Is it right to give up on Syria? Will Jordan have to sustain the population for much longer? Can it? When will the waiting game end?”
