In Their Own Words: Profiles from 2025-2026 Bass Connections Teams

A series of team-authored profiles invites readers behind the scenes of a year of interdisciplinary research.

What can research reveal about making homes safer for older adults with vision loss, bringing specialized surgery to rural communities or restoring coastal environments in partnership with local communities?

In seven team-authored profiles, students, faculty and community partners share the questions that shaped their projects, the challenges they encountered and the discoveries that emerged along the way.

These stories span a wide range of topics — including accessible design, health equity, artificial intelligence, environmental history, coastal restoration and community mental health. Together, they show how interdisciplinary teams approach complex problems by bringing together different fields, educational levels and lived experiences.
