GSF 590S: The Feminist 1970s

This course is a seminar in contemporary issues, methodology and theoretical questions pertaining to feminist scholarship. 

As Duke turns 100, its program in Gender Studies will reach its 40th anniversary while the field of Gender Studies (originally Women's Studies) is turning a half-century old. The early history of this field remains surprisingly unexplored, providing an opportunity for original contributions from student researchers. Student in this course will will investigate how 1960s-1970s feminist thought entered the academy to generate a new interdisciplinary field, including the case of Duke Women's Studies.
