Current Position

Communications Director, Audubon Florida

After I graduated from Duke, I worked in the coastal management program for a county in Florida and then as the Communications and Marketing Coordinator for the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance. Throughout this period, I have also been working extensively in the freelance space, from communications consulting to articles published in Backpacker, BirdWatching Daily, Florida Sportsman, Nat Geo Traveler and more, as well as on extended communications contracts for the National Science Foundation’s Long Term Ecological Research Network and the National Estuarine Research Reserves. In June 2019, I became the Communications Director of Audubon Florida, an organization that acts as Florida’s leading voice for conservation.

Bass Connections was the one and only place where I learned to storyboard documentary ideas and utilize video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro. Since then I have used these technical and storytelling skills to freelance for a variety of organizations, including the Florida State Park System and the University of Florida Sea Grant Program. It was the combined experience of skill development and hands-on communications work that led directly to my selection as the new Communications Director!
