Resident Physician, Rutgers-New Jersey Medical SchoolBass Connections was an integral part of my undergraduate experience while at Duke that ultimately shaped my career choice in medicine. Our project investigated the use of oculomotor tests to evaluate mild traumatic brain injury in high school athletes. We were a multidisciplinary team that brought together our different backgrounds and perspectives to address this clinical project.
My passion for the brain continued through medical school and that influenced my decision to pursue neurosurgery. Now, as a neurosurgery resident, I manage patients with a variety of conditions affecting the brain and spine. Working at a level one trauma center, I also regularly take care of patients with traumatic brain injury.
