Three Bass Connections Faculty Leaders Receive Honors

Duke University awarded distinguished professorships to 13 faculty members and inducted another five into the Bass Society of Fellows for Excellence in Teaching and Research. They were recognized at a dinner on May 3. Among the recipients were three Bass Connections team leaders.

Pizer, Sommer, Meyer

William A. Pizer will become the Susan B. King Professor of Public Policy on July 1. He led this year’s Bass Connections project Developing Departmental Energy Reports and a Carbon Pricing Program for Duke University, and has been part of three earlier projects.

New inductees to the Bass Society of Fellows for Excellence in Teaching and Research include Marc A. Sommer, W.H. Gardner Jr. Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering (Beauty in Balance and Balance in Beauty) and Joel Meyer, Truman and Nellie Semans/Alex Brown & Sons Associate Professor of Molecular Environmental Toxicology (Environmental Epidemiology in Latin America).
